Today was truly GRAND at Buffalo Point! Our Grand Day Picnic brought together students, grandparents, and other special guests for a joyful lunch filled with smiles, hugs, and family connections. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the important people who help our students grow and thrive. #BuffaloPoint #BuildingTogether #StampedeStrong #GrandDay

On this Constitution Month and on September 11, we pause with gratitude. We honor the sacrifices of first responders and appreciate their ongoing willingness to take care of all of us. Thank you to the families, staff, and community members who teach and live the values of liberty, justice, and unity every day. Your example helps our students see what it means to build a stronger nation—together.

Words from the Herd Wednesday 🦬💬
This week’s words remind us how kindness, family, and citizenship all build our Stampede spirit:
1. A sweet kindergartener showed her heart, saying, “He’s bald, but I’m not going to tell him that.”
2. A second grader couldn’t wait for Grand Day: “Oh yeah, my grandpa’s coming and he’s bringing me a chicken leg.”
3. And from a book we’ve been reading together: “The example of our initiative may help others more clearly see, the kind of person and even hero, that we can choose to be!”
Kindness, connection, and courage—together they make us better. #WordsFromTheHerd #BuildingTogether #StampedeStrong

Teaching Tuesday (Part 2)
Our sixth graders traveled back in time with a cave painting activity! Using symbols and images, they explored how early humans shared stories and recorded history long before written words. #TeachingTuesday #BuildingTogether #StampedeStrong

Teaching Tuesday
Did you know the USS Constitution, also called Old Ironsides, is the world’s oldest commissioned warship still afloat? Launched in 1797, it earned its famous nickname during the War of 1812 when enemy cannonballs seemed to bounce off its strong oak hull.
Our 2nd graders learn about this legendary ship as part of their literacy curriculum—just one way we’re “Building Together” through stories of courage, history, and the Constitution.

Words from the Herd – Constitution Month
Every morning our students pledge, ending with the promise of “liberty and justice for all.” At Buffalo Point, those words guide more than just the flag salute—they remind us that in our school community, everyone deserves fairness, respect, and the freedom to learn and grow. Students, teachers, staff, and families all work together to make sure those values shine through in classrooms, on the playground, and at home.

Teaching Tuesday
This morning one of our Student Council members did our morning announcements (a Monday tradition!) and shared her own words about how we can Build Together:
“Working together and having fun.”
Her reminder is a perfect connection to Constitution Month—just as our nation was built on collaboration and shared ideas, we continue to grow stronger when we listen, learn, and build together.

We are in urgent need of substitute aides—especially those who can step in for our cafeteria and playground staff. This isn’t the most glamorous role, but it is one that truly makes a difference for our students every single day.
If you (or someone you know) are available and willing to help, please contact the principal (rvannatter@dsdmail.net) or our office (801-402-8400) for details on how to get started. Even being available occasionally would make a meaningful impact.
Thank you for supporting our students and school community!
