Teaching Tuesday (Part 2)
Our sixth graders traveled back in time with a cave painting activity! Using symbols and images, they explored how early humans shared stories and recorded history long before written words. #TeachingTuesday #BuildingTogether #StampedeStrong

Teaching Tuesday
Did you know the USS Constitution, also called Old Ironsides, is the world’s oldest commissioned warship still afloat? Launched in 1797, it earned its famous nickname during the War of 1812 when enemy cannonballs seemed to bounce off its strong oak hull.
Our 2nd graders learn about this legendary ship as part of their literacy curriculum—just one way we’re “Building Together” through stories of courage, history, and the Constitution.

Mascot Monday
Today Chip joined our 5th graders in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. What a great reminder that we’re all Building Together—students, staff, and even our mascot—one pledge at a time!

Words from the Herd – Constitution Month
Every morning our students pledge, ending with the promise of “liberty and justice for all.” At Buffalo Point, those words guide more than just the flag salute—they remind us that in our school community, everyone deserves fairness, respect, and the freedom to learn and grow. Students, teachers, staff, and families all work together to make sure those values shine through in classrooms, on the playground, and at home.

Teaching Tuesday
This morning one of our Student Council members did our morning announcements (a Monday tradition!) and shared her own words about how we can Build Together:
“Working together and having fun.”
Her reminder is a perfect connection to Constitution Month—just as our nation was built on collaboration and shared ideas, we continue to grow stronger when we listen, learn, and build together.

Mascot Monday: Kicking off Constitution Month!
This September, we’re celebrating the foundation of our freedoms and the values that unite us. Here’s Chip the Buffalo standing proud in front of the Liberty Wall and the U.S. Constitution.
Let’s make this month one of learning, respect, and gratitude for the principles that guide our country.

A big thank you to our amazing students for doing their part to earn Buffalo Bucks by showing respect, responsibility, and kindness. And thank you to the adults who make sure Buffalo Bucks get passed out—your effort keeps our Stampede strong!

We are in urgent need of substitute aides—especially those who can step in for our cafeteria and playground staff. This isn’t the most glamorous role, but it is one that truly makes a difference for our students every single day.
If you (or someone you know) are available and willing to help, please contact the principal (rvannatter@dsdmail.net) or our office (801-402-8400) for details on how to get started. Even being available occasionally would make a meaningful impact.

Words from the Herd Wednesday
While reviewing safe school rules, we talked about how play fighting and wrestling aren’t okay at school. One kindergartener quickly added with a big smile:
“But it’s still okay to wrestle with your dad!”
We love these little reminders of the fun and special connections our students share with their families. #WordsFromTheHerd #BuildingTogether #BuffaloPoint

Teaching Tuesday Spotlight
Mr. Green, Administrative Intern, was invited to Mrs. Olsen’s class to read with students. We appreciate opportunities like this where school leaders can share the joy of reading and support our Buffalo Point learners!

Introducing Words from the Herd Wednesday!
Each week we’ll share voices from our Buffalo Point community—students, staff, and families—highlighting their thoughts, experiences, and celebrations. Stay tuned every Wednesday to hear the Herd’s words and see what makes our school such a special place!
A kindergartener has stuff on his hands. A little girl next to him offered a napkin. He said, "That's okay, I can use my shirt."
The hallway procedure for first graders is "Hand on a hip, finger on the lip." They look so great strutting down the hall nice and quiet.
